A Green Heron is gracefully taking off causing ripples on the surface of a calm lake with water cascading off of its feet. Its motion is captured mid-flight, with the wings extended and feet just nearly touching the water, creating a beautiful reflection beneath. It is truly a mesmerizing sight to behold.
The motion of the bird is portrayed in the ripples and splash of water trailing behind it rather than the direction in front of it which is most common. The action of the heron is frozen for clear viewing of its beautiful plumage.
