Baby Leatherback turtles released at sunset in an effort to increase their chance of survival. Their predators include birds, rabbits, dogs and humans. Their survival rate is 1 out of 1,000.
There are three species of turtles in Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo, Mexico, Leatherbacks, Ridley's and Black. The Ecologia Zihuatanejo is the government agency which seeks to conserve them. It is also a form of eco tourism because they educate the public and involve them in the release of the baby turtles.
This photograph was taken with my iPhone so, it is best suited for smaller size prints and merchandise. It is a beautiful peaceful image which would make a great addition to your home, office or medical facility bringing the serenity of nature indoors. Size and additional substrate options may be viewed by clicking on the shop button below.
